Beach Seating Fund
Friends of Par Beach are raising money to purchase and install seating on "our patch". We are hopeful that for every £1 we raise we will be able to get £1 matched funding which will double the pot.
The money that we raise for the seating fund is ring fenced (which means we won't spend it on anything else). We also hope to attract some direct sponsorship for benches in their entirety - we will add more ideas and information here as we go along. If you would like to contribute to the fund please send your donations no matter how big or small to our treasurer at 13 Polmear Village, Par, PL24 2AT or indeed you could hand it to any of our committee members. Do please contact us if you're able to do some fundraising, every penny helps us get closer to some more seating.
Outdoor seating varies dramatically in style, robustness and cost. A basic decent bench is likely to cost more than you would expect, over £300 exc. VAT, and you could pay thousands depending on what you want. The decision on what style, when and where to put the benches will not just be down to Friends of Par Beach members, we will be consulting with the Access Group and Cornwall Council and other interested parties along the way.

Mike Freemantle has completed his sponsored bike ride from Lands End to John O'Groats. That's an astounding 1,103.3 miles through wind, rain and sun. All the money that has been pledged for the ride will go to the Beach Seating Fund. What an amazing start to the fund it is. Current pledges are over £200 with a lot more coming in. We hope to have the final sponsorship totals within a couple of weeks.
