Par Beach Day at Gott Hall had a steady stream of visitors all day and we wait for the feedback from this with interest.
The latest (2012) version of the Par Beach Management Plan has been released. While some parts are already a little out of date and others yet completed, note that it is a work in progress. It is an 11Mb file which means it will take a while to load in to a web page. We have linked to it from our Documents page to read at your leisure, but here is a direct link that will open the Par Beach Management Plan 2012 pdf in a new window.

Par Beach Management Group "Par Beach Day"
A community event is to be held to launch the Par Beach Management Group (PBMG). This is an opportunity for the community of Par to see what has been done since the last community day, it will be held on Saturday 12th of January 2012 at Gott Hall, Par.
Members of the local community are invited to come along to hear about recent developments and explore the possibilities for the future of the Beach.
Following the successful event of 2011 PBMG has listened to your ideas, gained funding and implemented changes. Now it is time to help us prioritise future plans and decide where we should put our energy for positive change for Par beach.
Par Beach Management Group consists of local organisations with an interest in the beach, including Friends of Par Beach. Representatives from the management group will be on hand on the day to discuss the latest plans and opportunities for the area.
David Hughes Cornwall Councillor for Tywardreath said “We’ve had an initial meeting of the management group to discuss how we can all work together. The open day two years ago was a great success which produced lots of ideas which have been moved forward. I’m looking forward to this one.”
Martin Eddy, Cornwall Council’s Community Network Manager said “Here is an opportunity for all organisations with an interest in the beach to work together formally to agree an annual action plan. Everyone can bring different talents to bear and its surprising what you can do when you put you mind to it.”
Join in between 10am and 3pm for free tea and cake and a chance to make a difference on this well loved place. Get the date Saturday 12th January 2012 in your diaries, and there will be no cold turkey, we promise!

Par Beach Management Group Press Release
A group of organisations and businesses with an interest in the beach met with Cornwall Council to discuss how they might all work together to manage the beach. Cornwall Council has obtained funding from the Clay Country Local Action Group to create the group and have an open day early in the New Year. Groups currently involved in the Par Beach Management Group are Par Community Association, Friends of Par Beach, Tywardreath and Par Parish Council, Park Leisure Ltd, Par Bay BIG Local and Cornwall Council. Local landowners will be invited and included in the mailing list.
The group’s role was discussed and it agreed that it would provide Cornwall Council with context and direction in managing the area. It would build upon the current five year management plan and contribute and help to deliver an agreed annual management plan. Work programmes will be reviewed and the group asked for advice and guidance on any significant developments.
The group is meeting again in December to discuss whether it should extend its remit to St Andrew’s Road Reserve, water quality and the forthcoming consultation day on Saturday 12th of January 2012 at Gott Hall, Par. If anyone has any issues they would like the Par Beach Management Group to air then get in contact with your local representative.
20th January 2011
There was a Par Beach stakeholders meeting in December to which we were invited along to. This was hosted by Cornwall Council and representatives from many local and national groups were there. Mike Freemantle has this to say:
"Jane (Richards) and I attended this meeting, which was an exploratory meeting of interested parties which included:-
Friends of Par Beach
Cornwall Council (reps from Property Services, Environmental Planning, Car Parks, North Cornwall Beaches, Planning Dept. etc)
Par Community Association
Par Beach Ranger (Paul Mason)
Three groups were formed and each had the same task, which was to identify Immediate, Medium Term and Long Term strategies/projects and condense into 4 key words. Despite the make-up of groups not being balanced in terms of interest, each group came up with quite similar results.
The meeting moved things forward towards a management strategy and the next stage will be a presentation of the meeting’s findings at a Par Beach Community Day at Gott Hall on Saturday 5th February."
A list of things put in to the melting pot at the meeting is in a Stakeholders Meeting document, this can be found on our website Documents page as well from that direct link. Please bear in mind that they are just thoughts from the people that were at the meeting and nothing more should be read in to it!
There is a meeting tomorrow at the Eden Project to sort out how the Par Beach Community Day will be set out. It will be hosted by Cornwall Council at Gott Hall with representatives of the stakeholders there wherever possible and this will be YOUR opportunity to tell the council what you do and don't want to see at Par Beach and the Local Nature Reserve. We'll add more details here when we have them but please make a note of the date in your diary as it's very important that everyone comes along to support the beach.
