Friends of Par Beach will be having their December Work Party on Sunday 14th December. We hope that as many of you as possible can come along to help out following this lovely donation from Western Power to help enhance the Local Nature Reserve.

Come for the whole morning or drop in to suit.

Friends of Par Beach Big Bug Hunt
Sunday, 15th June 2014
Venue: Par Beach Local Nature Reserve
Time: 10:30am to 12:30pm

Friends of Par Beach have joined forces with the Opal Project and will be holding a Bug Count Survey event. This is aimed at children and is a family event. We will be holding this on and around the Orchid Field at the western end of the Beach Local Nature Reserve.

The OPAL website is worth a look too: http://www.opalexplorenature.org/SouthWest. The short video gives a good overview of the work OPAL has done so far.

There are various newsletters from this organisation available in PDF format. There is a growing feeling, partly initiated by the National Trust that a child who hasn't had the opportunity to get out into the natural environment to build dens, interact with the local flora and fauna etc is missing out on a great deal and this would be great opportunity to develop this.

For more information on the Natural Connections project from which the OPAL project has derived from, please follow this link: http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/ourwork/enjoying/linkingpeople/learning/naturalconnections/

Spaces are limited to 20 families so booking is essential to secure your place please contact us using the contact us page or call John on 01726 814430 or e-mail info@parbeach.com.

Details of meeting point etc will be given when or after booking.

Dogs welcome but must be kept under control on a lead.

If this is a sucess we will be looking at holding more events of this nature in the future. OPAL run various survey events that we could organise, e.g. Tree Health Surveys, Soil and Earthworm Surveys, Air Surveys and Water Surveys.
