UPDATE: Conditions are looking good, but, WELLIES are a must for the Otter Holt part of the exercise!

We’ll try again! We couldn’t carry out this work in September as the water level was too high. The contractor has been on site and it is ready for us to do our bit to build an OTTER HOLT in the wetland area of the Local Nature Reserve. We shall use wood from the coppicing to build the holts and the pile of chippings will be used to improve the path that leads into the reeds.

If the wet water level rises again we may. Instead, have to clear the encroaching Sea Buckthorn on the main dunes path and the sand ramp from the Main Car Park.

Meet: opposite the hut/barrier 200 metres down the Beach Access Road. Parking may be available in The Ship car park.

Time: 10:30am to 12:30pm, come for the whole morning or drop in to suit.

Please wear suitable clothing for weather and conditions. Wellington Boots and gloves will be essential on this occasion. We have a good stock of gloves, but you are welcome bring your own.

We shall be bringing hand saws, slashers, secateurs and loppers for you to use

“A call to Arms!” Urgent Winter Beach Clearance
Sunday, 8th January 2017
Venue: Par Beach (meet on the grass area opposite the childrens' play area)
Time: 11am to 1pm

Due to the fact that there has been quite a bit of marine debris washed up onto the beach over the last few weeks Friends of Par Beach have decided to hold a short notice beach clean on Sunday 8th January. Some community spirited people have been dragging up some of the debris to the top of the beach above the tide line. We need to move it to the bins at the car parks so that Biffa (was Cory) can get their vehicle close by to load up and take it away.

We would love to see as many as can make it, if you prefer you can come along for part of the time we will be there.

We will supply litter pickers, bags and hoops for the smaller items.

Time: 11am to 1pm

Meet: at the grass area almost opposite the children's play area just past Milos. Look out for our flag.

Bring: Suitable clothing and footwear for the prevailing conditions and gloves if you have any. We do have some that we can provide but these are in limited numbers.
